Onoes! Not Ron Weasley!

I didn't really go for him in the movies, unfortunately. Professor Umbridge on the other hand... probably one of the best villains I've ever read/watched! Chilling! Infuriating! Amazing!

Can't forget Atreyu, the child warrior, from The Neverending Story. Though that's taking me back a while. Glad they didn't keep his blue skin for the screen, but everything else was perfect.
Briony from Atonement would be on my Honourable Mention list.

Scarlett O'Hara from Gone With the Wind

Jo March from Little Women

I love the novella and the film of Breakfast at Tiffany's, but not sure if the character survived the transition - she was pretty transformed in the film, as was the ending. Would never have guessed that Audrey Hepburn's call girl with a heart of gold was the original Pretty Woman if you hadn't read the book, too.

I nominate Severus Snape (alan Rickman, yum yum).

Also Siegfried and Tristan Farnon, from All Creatures Great and Small.

Johnny Depp as Hunter S Thompson in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Enid from Ghost World. Actually, I think the film Enid was even better.

Mona in the Tales of the City mini-series.

Maybe I am the only freak who didn't like the movie of Breakfast at Tiffany's (but loved the book). I can't even hear Moon River without my teeth starting to hurt.
